Ingredients (for about 20 servings)

  • 1 pack of filo pastry
  • 200 g crushed pistachios or walnuts
  • 150 g melted butter
  • 50 g sugar

For the syrup

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
  3. Place a sheet of filo pastry, brush it with butter, and repeat the process for several layers.
  4. Add a layer of crushed nuts mixed with sugar.
  5. Cover with several buttered filo pastry sheets.
  6. Repeat the process until all ingredients are used.
  7. Cut the baklava into diamonds or squares before baking.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.

Prepare the syrup

  1. Heat the water, sugar, and lemon juice for a few minutes.
  2. Add the orange blossom water off the heat.

Finishing

  1. Pour the hot syrup over the still hot baklava.
  2. Let it rest for several hours so the flavors can develop.
